For this phase we need to prepare liquid spore syringe, spawn substrate, bags or jars for spawn substrate, make substrate sterilization, substrate inoculation, make mushroom cakes and cover them with casing layer, make an incubator and control the necessary microclimate conditions for this period: no light at all, temperature +27+30°C or 80-86°F, low humidity (30-55%).
Using a self healing injection port allows you to make grain spawn without a laminar flow hood, or other fancy equipment. You just need some grain, some jars, some high temperature silicon, and of course a cheap pressure cooker.
Our synthetic filter discs provide for contaminant-free gas exchange on spawn jar lids. All of our synthetic filter discs have a pore size of 0.3 microns. We carry multiple sizes of filter discs: 29mm (for custom-made spawn jar lids), 70mm (regular mouth jars), 90mm (widemouth jars), 110mm, and 125mm.
Working quickly attach syringe filters to the centre holes and injection ports to the outer holes in each lid. Syringe filters should be used for liquid culture jars to reduce the likelihood of contamination. Micro pore tape is an excellent filter material on grain spawn jars due to the increased fresh air exchange.

The drying process for mushrooms is extremely easy, just place the mushroom fruiting bodies in a low humidity, moderate temperature, high airflow area for 2-4 days. Near a dehumidifier is ideal, but if you do not have a dehumidifier near a fan will also work, albeit slower.
In theory one could get a 100% success rate in a flow cabinet but in practice even under the most hygienic conditions contaminations will be encountered. Contamination rates below 10% can usually be considered good. Inoculation of jars and microboxes. The easiest method to inoculate jars and microboxes is with a syringe with spore-/mycelium

First-time mushroom growers are always eager to get to the finished product. Mushroom Growing can be a meticulous and thorough process that you should not rush. Incomplete preparations or not following and sticking to one chosen technique will lead to a higher risk of contamination. Trying to rush each stage will also lead to a high failure rate.
I agree, the adding of the spawn is really the “bottle neck” of the whole operation, and is better suited for large operations and machinery. I think you could definitely go the liquid culture route, I would have a jar of liquid culture, and a syringe, sterilize the syringe, fill with liquid culture, and inoculate jars 1 CC at a time.
The process of making grain spawn can take up to 3 weeks with the majority of the action requiring just a few hours of attention. The process involves hydrating and sterilising grains in jars sealed with a filter patch for fresh air exchange.
