If you were to use a Syringe filter to inoculate, you would likely filter out much of the mycelium and block up the port but also introduce a good avenue for contamination to ‘wick’ through if that makes sense.

I use these for placing filters on mason jar lids for doing liquid mushroom spawn and for grain spawn jars. I have used a couple of dozen filters so far. I have had no issues. They jars / lids / filters do go through a pressure cooker. Depending on the whether I'm doing liquid culture or a grain spawn, that means either 30 or 90 minutes at 15 psi.
Is a 13 mm .22 um syringe filter adequate for grain spawn jars gas exchange? So the same syringe filters that are used for liquid culture jars. I usually run unmodified lids for my spawn jars but was gifted a few hundred for Christmas and was wondering if they would be enough gas exchange for colonizing grains.
