Dec 24, 2021 · A mushroom liquid culture is just living mycelium inside lightly nutritious water. A basic, common recipe for this nutritious water mixture is 500 millimeters of filtered, non-chlorinated water combined with 10 grams of honey, light malt extract, or some other simple, easily fermentable sugar.
Liquid culture syringes are much bigger—often 60ml to 80ml. The reason an uncultured spore syringe usually has a smaller capacity is that the spores don’t need anywhere near as much room since they’re effectively laying dormant; a liquid culture syringe needs more room to account for the germination process and development of liquid mycelium.
Morels are a famously difficult mushroom species to cultivate but are great for experimenting with new methods. Given their difficulty, we do not currently recommend for commercial use. Our liquid culture syringes are ~10ml and come sealed in a plastic sleeve with a sterile 16 gauge needle and alcohol wipe.
