Dec 08, 2018 · The syringe filters purpose is just that. In the medical field it’s used to remove particles from samples like any filter. If you were to use a Syringe filter to inoculate, you would likely filter out much of the mycelium and block up the port but also introduce a good avenue for contamination to ‘wick’ through if that makes sense.

These syringe filters are excellent for gas exchange in grain or liquid culture jars - the pore size of the filter membrane is 0.22µM, and the filter is 13mm wide. They should be used by drilling a roughly 1/4" hole in the lid of your jar, and using silicone to affix it.
PF Tek Substrate Jars also known as BRF Tek or Brown Rice Flour Jars have been a staple in the mushroom growers pantry for around 2 decades now. We use Ball canning jars.
