Most people will recommend a 0.2 micron because this is has smaller holes than the diameter of almost any bacteria. Aspergillus spores are 1.0 to 5.0 microns. I have yet to see a 0.45 micron syringe filter fail as a filter on a jar lid. I personally encourage EXPERIMENTATION!
