May 19, 2011 · A double layer of tyvek, 1 layer of foil, then a jar band. After PC'ing the jars, remove the layer of foil. Innoculate directly through the tyvek, then cover the hole with a wide piece of packing tape. If your grain appears to be too damp, remove the tape. Easy as pie!
Note: Quickest , cheapest and easiest way to make lids it to use a nail (or paper punch) to make a hole in the lid, then cover hole with 2-3 layers of medical (paper-type) micropore tape. Feb 13, 2014 · The syringe filters don't work for the same reason a small piece of synthetic filter disc won't work. If you get a sheet of thick felt and cut it in small squares, it will filter the air fine and provide all the gas exchange you need.
