Dec 09, 2017 · If you don't ever need a lot of mushrooms or need the diversity of bags, stick with jars but if you ever need to pull some weight, lets say bulk edibles for the farmers market and it will be a frequent event, it is not practical to use jars. In the contrary i know a edible mushroom grower who has a small scale farm and he has around 1000 jars.
Jar Lids & Foil. All jar lids should contain a filtered gas exchange. Without it, the mycelium could suffocate and die. Simply punch a hold in the lid and cover it with a filter patch, micropore tape, or stuff with polyfill. If you plan on to inoculate the grain with a syringe, add an injection port.
Nov 16, 2012 · you dont need FAE in your jars TBH, just speed things along. looking back 2 days and after asking much the same question i would not have made filters for my lids they will grow just fine, easier to shake, less likely to contam. but to answer your question no a syringe filter will not provide FAE. i would go with either filter disks or tyvek and some RTV

Nov 04, 2019 · Fill your jars/jar approximately 80% full with broth. If you have a magnetic stirrer add it now, if not, add a bolt. If you don’t have a bolt, don’t worry you’ll just have to swirl a bit more. Place your broth into the PC and cook for 15 minutes at 15psi. Cover the tops in tin foil to protect the filter.

Drill a 1" hole and glue a 2" filter disc on the underside. I use plastic lids and have a soldering iron with a 1" diameter tip so I melt the 1" hole and then while the plastic is still gooey I place the 2" disc on the backside where the melted plastic takes the place of the glue.
